Things to Do When Your Flight Gets Delayed

Posted on December, 19 2017 by Blueway Limited

Flight delays have become more common than ever and we can complain about them all we want, but until real solutions are found, there is nothing we can do about it, apart from claiming compensation. In other words, it’s a problem we’re going to have to deal with for some time to come.

But, here’s the thing, you don’t have to fret and froth at the mouth every time a delay creeps up on you. There are better ways to handle the forced extended stay at the airport. The last thing you need is more stress.

Here are a few ways in which you can make the most of the situation.

Stay Prepared

Never enter an airport with the confidence that your flight is going to be on time. Always be ready for a delay. That way, when a delay does strike, you’ll be prepared and ready with strategies to while away the time.

So, bring a book or upload your favourite TV shows or movies onto your smartphone. The objective here is to pass the time and ease your mind.

In fact, you should be prepared in general, especially if you’re one of those early birds. It doesn’t necessarily have to be done in the context of a possible delay.

Coming in early for a timely flight can also force you to wait for long hours. So, always have something that can keep you occupied and busy.

If you have children, bring a few toys or games to keep them distracted. Even some snacks would be a good idea as children can get cranky if they start to feel hungry.

Get To Know the Airport

Going to the airport doesn’t just about know which gate you’re supposed to board through. Airports are more than just a place to catch a flight and knowing what your airport has to offer can be quite helpful, especially in scenarios involving delays.

For instance, some airports have beautiful gardens while others have services where you can cuddle a dog to ease your stress. Each airport has something to offer. Figure out what your airport provides, so that you’ll have something to take your mind off the delay.

Sign Up For a Lounge Service

There is a misconception that paid lounges are expensive. Of course, they were once upon a time, but that isn’t always the case now. There are affordable lounges out there and you should consider using one. These lounges are ideal when it comes to spending all those extra hours.

With TV, good wine, and good food, time just tends to fly in one of these places. It’s a great way to unwind and not let the delay get to you.

Eat!

If you’re someone with a good appetite, then food is your best bet at whiling away time at the airport. Most large airports have a lot to offer in this department. Plus, food can be comforting and that’s exactly what you need when forced to deal with a flight delay.
